From my experience from using many brands and makes of extention ladders I will give you a consumer report review for home owners.
The best buy for 20' or more is an aluminum extention ladder, if you're just buying a short 16' I recommend fiberglass.
Unless you are going to use a ladder every day it is dollar foolish to spend the extra money for fiberglass. Plus, if you have ever picked up a fiberglass ladder you know how heavy thet get over 30'. I have never had a problem using aluminum extention ladders and you will use them a lot less than a step ladder. If you are working around electricity a lot then you should purchase fiberglass, wood conducts elect. if it's wet.
I prefer fiberglass for l6' extention ladders, because they are not too heavy and they are sturdy.

Step Ladders
####################
If you are a home owner and you need a step ladder you are foolish to risk your life buying a cheap step ladder. Your safety and ability to provide for your family depends on you purchasing the safest ladder so you can go back to work after your home projects on the weekend. Household ladder injuries are one element of sweat equity you may not hear about on home-improvement shows. Only a person with Common Sense will understand that most injuries are from misuse and improper selection. Just because a ladder is rated for 300 pounds doesn't mean it can't fail if it's not properly set up and used.
For the professional, they all ready know this, they or someone they know has had an accident and been injured because of cheap, poor quality equipment.
You are going to, in most cases, only buy one 6' and maybe a 10'step ladder for around your home. You want a solid, durable and long lasting step ladder that is safe around electricity. You may not plan on being near electricity, but it will happen. Your best and safest step ladders are the fiberglass ones. You can spend your money once and get the best ladder.
You should test a step ladder before buying it. Climb three steps and try shifting your weight; the ladder shouldn’t deform, tip, or walk. Then, once you have found the one you want, you can shop for the best deals.
If you all ready know the model and brand you want you can shop for deals at

circular saw ya man
from RJ Bell
As a builder and re-modeler, my review is more of a consumer report for the experienced professional, than the "new-be". Most consumers will never build a house or gut a room to remodel it, but they will want and need a good circular saw. For the "new-be", reading a consumer report review will give them details and experiences of others. My experience with a consumer report is it gives technical details that is of little help and confusing to the inexperienced. No matter what company gives you a consumer report, the numbers and grades they provide don't give you "the experience" to make smart choice.
You can find my picks; the model 6390-21 Electric corded saw, the battery-powered model
0730-22 and model 6310-20 , in my consumer report review at Milwaukee Circular Saws.

Drill Torque Handle
Cordless Drills

from RJ Bell
When a consumer looks at reports about cordless drills the reports can look too detailed for the average consumer. Most consumers just want a drill that will take a beating, isn't too heavy and will last a long time on one charge. A consumer report can provide you with that if the consumer focuses on the specific columns in the consumer report that has that criteria.
Dewalt has a nice 14.4 volt (model DC728KA) that runs around $160 that is the best value in my opinion. When comparing the most important features in choosing a tool, this model has a good "run time" , recharges in about an hour, weighs 4.3lbs. and costs a lot less than the competitors.
You can find my complete consumer report on this and other Dewalt tools at Dewalt Saws / Tools.

Garden Tools

Garden Tools
Garden Tools
****************
When working around your house you will find that a selection of garden tools will make your projects go quicker and easier. You can't always use a "power" tool, or afford to hire someone for yard work, so having variations of a few tools will speed up your projects. You will also have the satisfaction of doing the job yourself.
A short list of tools you need are;
  • Rakes, a metal teeth "garden rake" with a flat edg on the back for grading your work area and a Leaf rake for light work (and leaves)
  • Shovels, one with a round edge for digging and a square edge one for "clean-up (I use an aluminum Grain shovel - which I also use for shoveling snow)

*****Home Improvement and Tools******

House Demolition Oak Street 6 Feb 08 (21)
To the home owner and/or contractor the ability to do research to stay current with new tools and project ideas saves them time and money. Most "Time Sensitive" people read "Reviews" to get a "sense" about a product or device's performance, durability, ease-of-use, "FEEL", "Power", "Statis", Cost and R-O-I.
This is why I have taken the time to present my findings and experiences. I have already spent my time, so let me save you "YOUR Time" .

Outdoor Lighting

I have been looking for outdoor lighting for some time now, and after careful research, I have chosen Outdoor Solar Lighting as the best value in outdoor lighting today.....

DeWALT SAWS / TOOLS
When he returned from WWI he worked as a Fireman (the guy that kept the fire stoked) on a locomotive that ran across upstate N.Y. while going to school to become a master wood craftsman. He went to work for Morris Pumps building the wood molds that were used to make giant pumps (you could stand inside where the turbine went) which were used all over the world.........

Milwaukee Power Tools
My father was a commercial electrician. He had the same sawzall for years with no problems, even after it fell 40' off scaffolding several times. It was tossed around for 25 years and still works today. I received a newer model sawzall as a gift from my family, with a removable power cord, ( I recommend it) and after 10 years of constant use it works as good as new.....
